Angel Puerta
Founder, Director, CEO
Dr. Puerta received a Doctoral degree in Computer Science from the University of South Carolina in 1990. He worked until 1998 as a research professor at Stanford University, where he was the principal investigator for two multi-year, multimillion-dollar projects sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Dr. Puerta is an internationally recognized scientific leader in the area of human-computer interaction. He is an elected member of the executive committee of the Association for Computing Machinery Groups in Human-Computer Interaction and in Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Puerta founded RedWhale in 1998.
Eric Cheng
Founder, Director
Mr. Cheng received his Master's degree in Computer Science from Stanford University in 1998, where he specialized in Human-Computer Interaction. He was a key member of the initial engineering team at E.piphany, a leading provider of web-based customer-relationship management software. He played an instrumental role in building the software platform that allowed E.piphany to grow, in a lightning 18 months, from a 25-person operation to a multibillion-dollar public company. Mr. Cheng was appointed Senior Software Engineer at E.piphany in 2000; he leads the engineering team at E.piphany responsible for the user-interaction experience.
Ian Chiu
Founder, Director
Most recently, Mr. Chiu was the Director of Technology Development at BigMachines, a leading provider of e-infrastructure for engineered systems software. Mr. Chiu was responsible for launching the BigMachines eMarketplace product line and landing a key customer in Omnexus, a consortia exchange backed by the likes of Dow, Dupont, and BASF. He also played a critical role in developing the technology partnerships of BigMachines. Previously, he was Business Development Manager at BigMachines, in which role he created many of the company's strategic alliances and external relationships. He has also held positions at CNN Hong Kong, Goldman Sachs, and Bechtel. Mr. Chiu received his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering with Distinction from Stanford University.
Jannet Torres
Director
Mrs. Torres received her Master of Business Administration degree from the University of South Carolina in 1990. Since 2000, she has been the Senior Director of Custom Research at Knowledge Networks, the world's premier provider of predictive marketing intelligence. Previously, Mrs. Torres was Vice President of Marketing Research at Access Worldwide Communications, a marketing-research company focused on helping Fortune 100 companies to grow their ethnic consumer markets. Under her leadership, that division was continuously the yearly revenue and profit leader within the organization and was instrumental in making the company public in 1997.
Julio Aranovich
Advisor to the Board
Dr. Aranovich received his Doctoral degree in Materials Science from Stanford University in 1972. Since 1998, Dr. Aranovich has served as Group Vice President of Core Products and Engineering Solutions at Applied Materials, the world's leading manufacturer of semiconductor-fabrication equipment. From 1996 to 1998, he served as Applied's Group Vice President and Corporate Vice President. Previously, Dr. Aranovich had been Director of Technology at DNS, the electronic-materials division of Huels, GmbH.
Hung-Yut Chen
Founder, Chief Engineer
Mr. Chen received his Master's degree in Communication from Stanford University in 1998; his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science was awarded by Harvard in 1992. Before joining RedWhale Software, Mr. Chen was a Head Engineer at Parametric Technology Corporation, a worldwide leading developer of CAD software. At Parametric, Mr. Chen designed the user interface and software architecture for the highly successful Pro/Engineer, a state-of-the-art CAD/CAM software package used by major manufacturers such as General Motors.
Anthony Liu
Business Group Manager
Mr. Liu received his Bachelor's degree in Economics from Stanford University in 2000. At RedWhale, Mr. Liu manages the entire range of the company's operational processes. He also leads the team of business-development associates responsible for creating the marketing, sales, and strategic alliances of the company.
